The art of heated & cooled sea stone bodywork as it merges perfectly with the principles of Ayurveda. Ayurveda means "The science of life," and is the ancient medical system of India. It is a collaborative body-mind-spirit physiotherapeutic healing system based on restoring the balance of the five great elements - ether, air, fire, water and earth.

Our courses offer massage therapists and healers the opportunity to learn a variety of Ayurvedic healing massage modalities such as steam therapy (swedhana), dry skin brushing (garshana), abhyanga, shirodhara and more. The most popular course is Sacred Stone Therapy, which integrates heated and chilled sea stones into traditional massage therapy based on ancient Ayurvedic principles.

About Karyn... Karyn Chabot, D.Ay, LMT cognized Sacred Stone Massage Therapy in 1999 off the shores of Rhode Island and was the first to bring this beautiful therapy to the East Coast. She coined the phrase, "Hot Stone Massage", which is now used in most spas around the world. Many others started practicing and teaching Hot Stone Massage, which gave rise to many new versions of her original therapy. In order to preserve it's authenticity, Karyn re-named it Sacred Stone Therapy. Karyn trained over 1,000 Sacred Stone Therapists and is one of the leading continuing education providers for licensed massage therapists and healers.

Karyn is also the founder of Sacred Stone, a school for Ayurveda and continuing education in professional massage therapy. She discovered the healing power of stones while she was struggling to relieve her own physical pain due to fibromyalgia. At the end of a long day of seeing clients, Karyn would find relief by laying upon the smooth, sun-baked stone cliffs in her backyard in Rhode Island. She started heating these velvety, textured sea stones from the cliffs and incorporating them into her oil massage practice (abhyanga) to facilitate the healing process for her clients. With the help of her client's feedback, inspiration and suggestions, she and her clients developed Sacred Stone Therapy. Massage therapists from all over the country starting making appointments with Karyn to experience this new therapy and asked her to start teaching classes.

The Sacred Stone School has recently relocated to the North Shore of Boston, MA and is and now owned by Natalie Schneck, LMT who is the only certified Sacred Stone Instructor in the United States (trained by Karyn). Karyn still runs the on-line school which trains students by using the home-study courses she has developed. She is also running private classes for massage therapists in Fairfield, Iowa.

In 1997, Karyn graduated and studied with the well-loved and renowned Dr. Vasant Lad, B.A. M.S at his prestigious school called The Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico. She graduated from Goddard College with her bachelor's degree in Alternative Health in 1995. Universal Massage Therapeutics of New Mexico graduated Karyn in 1997. She is a former adjunct faculty professor at Bristol Community College in their massage therapy program.

During the past 24 years of working in the health industry and dancing professionally, she became a licensed and nationally certified Massage Therapist, a certified Ayur*Yoga Instructor and a nationally certified yoga instructor from the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. Karyn studied Ayurvedic Blueprinting for many years with renowned Gandharva Sauls and graduated the Ayurveda-Yoga Institute of NYC. She later became a certified master crystologist with the Taomchi Association of America, a 2nd degree Reiki Practitioner, certified Quantum Touch therapist & certified Fitness Trainer and Nutritionist, and became certified in module one & two of The Bodytalk System. She studied Marma Therapy with Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Vaidya Mishra & Dr. Naina Marballi at Ayurveda's Beauty Care in NYC. She also became a certified Ayurvedic Beauty Specialist with Sonia Masocco at The Ayurvedic Institute. Karyn also took level one of The Yuen Method of Healing, and holds a certification as a Pancha Karma Therapist and Medical Thai Therapist.

Karyn has presented this therapy on national TV, in many international and national spas and healing centers, and at the National Ayurvedic Medical Association annual conferences. She has written many published articles in national magazines and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, The National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and The National Ayurvedic Medical Association.

She has produced 6 comprehensive instructional DVDs on the art of stone healing and Ayurvedic spa therapies and has written 8 illustrated bodywork books and correspondence courses for massage therapists. Sacred Stone Therapy made the cover of the American Massage Therapy Association? s Magazine in Oct 2003 and March 2005. At the moment, she is busy publishing her book on Sacred Stone Therapy and another book on Ayurveda (geared for massage therapists).

She certified her first Sacred Stone Therapy instructor, Natali Joscelyn, also known as Shamana, who resides in Australia and has opened a sister Sacred Stone School. Karyn is also thrilled to announce Natalie Schneck as the first and only certified Sacred Stone Therapist in the United States and new owner of the Sacred Stone School in Ma.

Karyn now resides in Fairfield, Iowa and is a candidate for a Master's degree in Vedic Science & Medicine. Her best healer and best friend is her 20-year-old daughter, Jada Chabot, who is following in her mother's foot steps and working as a licensed massage therapist and esthetician at Daryl Christopher's Salon in Waltham, MA.
